IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL (November 2011 Prayer letter)

We tent-camped so much with our children that we went through two tents.  We were planning another camping vacation and heading to Arizona the next year.  During our planning sessions I expressed my fear of the possibility of snakes coming into our tent.  We then began the discussion of purchasing a camper so we would be off the ground.  We purchased a tent camper which gave us the feel of tent camping and the security of being off the ground.
Off to Arizona! We camped at many places along the way and while we were camping at one of our last destinations, it happened. We woke up one morning and I saw a snake slither out from underneath our camper. I got my wife's attention and told her, "See, it was worth every penny we spent on this camper."

"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." Jn. 16:33

One of these days we will be able to look back at all the trials, difficulties and battles we have gone through  in this life and we will say it has been worth it all when we see the face of our Savior Jesus Christ.

"...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."  Rev. 2:10

Our September 2011 Prayer Letter: A BOOGIE BOARD AND JESUS

It was a beautiful day at the beach as we watched our children playing in the ocean with their boogie boards. We kept our eyes on our children the best we could in the midst of all the beach goers that day.
We were warned of the rip tide and that all swimmers should watch how far out they went. It happened; as we were scanning the ocean to see where each child was, one was missing. As I continued to look, I spotted our oldest child and he looked as small as a pencil head from my vantage point on the beach. I
went straight to the lifeguards. They called everyone out of the ocean and it took four of them to bring our son back to safety. As I look back on that day, I realize the boogie board kept him afloat and was his safety net in that big ocean.
Robyn and I have been called and given the responsibility to share Jesus with those who are on the rough ocean of life in the military. As the boogie board kept our son afloat, so it is with Jesus who keeps us afloat in this great big ocean we call “life.” And we have accepted the mission God has given us through Cadence International which reaches out to the military community with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
If you would like to partner with us and help us reach out to the military community, you can do so by going to www.cadence.org/donate or send your donation to:
Cadence International, PO Box 1268, Englewood, CO, 80150 with our account number “10776,” in the check memo.

CLUTTERED LIVES
We had our first of many ex-pected yard sales a few weeks ago. It is hard to believe how much “stuff” you can collect over 27 years of marriage. We don’t con-sider ourselves “hoarders,” but as we looked around at our possessions we could see how much “clutter” there was to rummage through. We burned a great deal
of our “stuff,” we filled trash cans full of “stuff,” and we sold some of our “stuff.”
How many times do we allow our lives to be cluttered with unnecessary “stuff” which keeps us from fully serving God as we should?
Burn it, trash it or just get rid of it and be fully committed to God.

PRAYER NEEDS:
1. Continued Spiritual Growth as preparation continues as we await our field assignment.
2. Pray for God’s direction as we purge our possessions and decide what we really need.
3. Pray as we continue to develop partners in ministry who will both pray for our ministry and uphold our ministry financially.

NEXT STEP: PARNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

"Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place."  Psalms 66:12

We have finished our "Growth Plan" and now we are ready to move deep into partnership development.  During our growth plan expedition we received encouragement, direction and spiritual training.  After a year of going through the fire and through the water of trials and tribulations we now see clearly the wealthy place in which God is taking us.  We are thankful for the counseling that has been given, the books we have received to read, and the love that has been shown to us over this past year.
When God takes you through the valley He molds you and shapes you into the person He wants you to be and readies you for His will and His work. Now we can thank God for the fire and and water we went through and we see His hand in our lives as we begin our Partnership Development stage for Cadence International.
Last year we went through a time in our lives where ministry became a burden more than a blessing.  We went through a time in our lives where ministry was something we worked hard to get out of until we found out that when God has a call upon your life, there is no option but to follow His calling upon your life.  There would be no true peace in our lives until we resigned to His will again.  That is when God lead us to "Cadence International" to minister to the military.  Now we are in the middle of "Partnership Development."   We are contacting people who will pray with us and for us and partner with us financially.  God is showing Himself to us and bringing us into a "Wealthy Place."  God is good all the time, all the time God is good.

Reading is Fundamental!!!!!!!!!!!

Our "Growth Plan" includes reading material.  Wow, some in depth stuff!!!!  Challenging books that make you look inside yourself and teach you how to be a better leader and presenter of God's Holy Word.  They also help with spiritual growth.  We are reading "Please Listen to Me!" by Dick Fetzer; "The Emotionally Healthy Church," by Peter Scazzero; "Abba's Child," by Brennan Manning, and a book given to us by new friends, "A Tale of Three Kings," by Gene Edwards.  I recommend all of these books if you need a refreshment of your spiritual life.  So, we have been busy reading this material and working on our "Partnership Development."  It is very exciting to watch God work in our lives and take us down new pathways.  Please pray for us as we take this new journey in our lives.  We are ready to go where God will take us on this new journey and time in our lives. And last but not least, some other good reading material;  "Read Your Bible for Yourself."

Missionary Candidacy in Colorado

On June 18, 2011, Robyn and I came before the selection committee at "Candence International" headquarters in Englewood Colorado.  We spent two weeks in training at headquarters, the first week as "candidates" and the second week as "missionaries."  It is official, we are missionaries reaching the gospel of Christ to the military.  Cadence International is an evangelical mission agency dedicated to reaching the military communities of the United States and of the world with the Good news of Jesus Christ.  There are close to 200 missionaries who work in over 50 locations worldwide.

We came home with a "Growth Plan" and partnerships to be developed.  A growth plan is designed to help us grow spiritually and prepare us for the mission field.  Partnership development is designed to partner with others in ministry both for prayer and financial support.

If you wish to learn more about "Cadence International," go to "cadence.org." If you wish to partner with us in prayer you may begin to pray for us that our "growth plan" will prepare us spiritually and that we will develop those partners for financial support.  If you wish to partner with us for financial support you can do so by going to "cadence.org" and finding our names under the "staff and missionaries" tab.
